Our mission is answering God's compassionate call to reach the Peoples of Ukraine for Christ by providing humanitarian aid and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

About Ukraine

Ukraine was settled in the 1400s and became an independent nation in 1991.

For over a millennium, the people of this region have been dominated by foreign powers, leaving the country with a fractured civil society and a weak national identity.

Even today, it continues to struggle with the consequences of centuries of strife.

In addition to a present war with Russia within its borders, 80% of the country’s 35 million people are considered food insecure.

One in three of our families face grinding poverty, and the population is declining as citizens die early or leave for opportunities in other countries.

Life in our villages is especially hard. Even so, they continue to rise above rampant corruption, the abuse of power, and great injustices.

Their struggles are significant, but Ukrainians are and have always been a strong, intelligent, and resourceful people.

Ukrainian Orphans

80 % of orphans in Ukraine are “social orphans.” This means that 80% have LIVING parents, with terminated rights due to repeated drunkenness, physical abuse, and/or drug related incidents.

While society turns a blind eye to these wonderful people, we offer compassionate care with transformational love. This is what Jesus looks like in action.

Building Hope in Ukraine, Inc.

Building Hope in Ukraine, Inc. started in May 2004 when Damon May took trips to the Sea of Azov and to Zhytomyr in Ukraine.

After working with other non-profit organizations, Damon formed Building Hope in Ukraine, Inc. with his Ukrainian wife Lienna for a total of 5 years in Ukraine, 1 with his beautiful wife, before moving to the United States to staff Building Hope in Ukraine, Inc’s American office.
